Daddy Long Legs
Book by John Caird
Music & Lyrics by Paul Gordon
Based on the novel by Jean Webster
Based on the classic novel which inspired the 1955 movie starring Fred Astaire, this heartwarming Cinderella story about a witty and winsome young woman and her mysterious benefactor has charmed audiences of all ages from Los Angeles to London.
“You’ve Got Mail” meets “Little Women” in this delightfully charming chamber musical. In 1908, Jerusha Abbott, a 17-year-old American orphan, is plucked from her dreary life in The John Grier Home by a mysterious and anonymous benefactor, determined to see her well-educated. Little does she know, this secretive man (whom she jokingly names ‘Daddy Long Legs’) is actually the charming young philanthropist, Jervis Pendleton III.
With a bitingly witty script and an elegantly beautiful score, two of Suffolk’s finest young emerging talents, Courtney Yule and Michael Haywood-Smith, lovingly brought Jerusha and Jervis to life in a whimsical production that charmed and delighted our audience of all ages.
