THE GALLERY STUDIO THEATRE

Getting There – Parking – Your Visit

Finding Us

The Gallery Studio Theatre is on St. Georges Street and is close to the centre of Ipswich. Our post code is IP1 3NF, click to find us on Google Maps. Our ‘What 3 Words‘ code is power.olive.search.

Parking

Although you can drop off in front of the Studio, there is very limited on street parking outside the theatre so it is recommended you use Crown Street Car Park, IP1 3HS, or William Street Car Park in William Street IP1 3HX, both are only a couple of minutes walk and the nearest to the Studio. Both are open 24hrs. Park after 2pm Mon – Fri and its only £2.70. Both these car parks are operated by Ipswich Borough Council and payments can be made via contactless, cash or card. The Wolsey Car Park, IP1 2DX, again only a few minutes walk is also an option at £2.50 after 6pm any day (and is the cheapest for Saturday evenings). The Spiral Car Park, off Civic Drive @ £2 for it’s ‘evening rate’ after 6pm is also an option (this is a cashless car park). For Saturday matinees Crown Street Car Park, IP1 3HS is the most reasonable @ £4.80 for up to 3 hours. **

(** prices correct at time of writing, January 2026, please check the relevant websites for up to date prices. None of these car parks are affiliated to the Studio in any way, this information is provided for your convenience.)

Pat’s Bar

The Foyer Bar is fully licensed and will be open 45 minutes before a performance and during any interval. We recommend pre ordering interval drinks so that you can relax! We sell a good selection of alcoholic and ‘soft’ drinks as well as coffee and tea, and also a couple of lo/no alcohol beers. While we don’t serve food we do sell ice creams and pouches of chocolates & sweets.

Accessibility

Wheelchair users can be reassured that there is a level threshold into the Studio from the street. This takes you into the foyer/bar area which is where our modern accessible wc is found.

There is a modern lift to the first floor auditorium for wheelchair users and those less mobile. If you have any concerns or queries please don’t hesitate to contact us here.

We always have 2 wheelchair spaces available for each performance when booking opens. (If these are not sold and a performance is close to selling out they will be converted back to standard seating, if you find this is the case please contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate you).

Booking Tickets

Online bookings:- Booking tickets is simple via the ‘button’ on the website. Just select the show and the performance you require. You will be taken to our booking platform TicketSource. Here it’s easy to choose your seats and pre-order a show programme (if available) and make a secure payment. Your tickets will be sent to the email address you enter or at a small extra cost TicketSource will post tickets to you. You can print off your tickets or show them on your phone once you get to the Studio.

Telephone Box Office:- If you wish to make telephone bookings you can by phoning TicketSource on 0333 666 3366 (local call rate) . Please note that a smartphone, tablet or computer will be needed at the payment stage.

The TicketSource telephone box office service is currently available from Monday to Friday, 9.00AM to 7.00PM and Saturday, 9.00AM to 5.00PM (excluding bank holidays).

Booking Tickets ‘in person’:- If you wish to book tickets ‘in person’ at the Studio you are most welcome. However this is only possible at performances (although not necessarily the performance you wish to see, in other words you can book in advance) as the Studio box office is only ‘manned’ when a performance is on. The Box Office will be open from 45 minutes before a performance and up to the end of that performance. Once a performance starts the front doors are closed but entry can be made by pressing the bell icon on the door keypad and one of our staff will let you in.

Exchanges and Refunds

We realise that even with the best planning things can crop up to scupper your visit to us. In order to be as user friendly and flexible as possible you can now ‘manage your booking’ via the ‘button’ on your booking confirmation email from TicketSource. (For non Gallery Players productions the exchange/refund policy may vary, please contact us if you need clarification). If you have any other ticket issues you can email us at tickets@gallerystudiotheatre.co.uk the Studio is not ‘manned’ during the day so this is the best way to contact us.
